We Are Planting a Church in Madison WI

The huge news for the Tilma family is that we will be planting a church in the Madison Wisconsin area.  The thought of planting a church is something we have considered for several years.  It was this past May that we clearly felt God calling us to plant a church.  We were serving at HCBC, a church in Austin TX that is highly committed to planting churches.  After talking with some close friends, mentors and family we began talking with the BGC about church planting.

We attended an church planter’s assessment in August.  During this four-day process a team of experienced planters and pastors assessed our readiness and ability to establish a new church.  We received a full and unanimous recommendation to plant–a full “green light” so to speak.  Rebecca and I had also been praying that God would make it very clear where we should plant.  Our list started with several cities and we eventually narrowed it down to Portland, OR–Austin, TX and Madison, WI.  After exploring each city it became clear that God was drawing us toward the Madison area.

Madison is a unique city with a great mix of people.  The large university, the state capitol, a growing technical community, and a thriving art scene make the city a growing and diverse place.  The variety of thought and culture make it a unique place to live and plant a church.  The Madison area is very “unchurched” and there is a great need for churches that can connect with a new generation.

Do you know anyone who lives in Madison Wisconsin?
We are currently building our network in Madison.  If you know anyone who has lived there and could answer some questions about the city, we would love to connect with them.  We are also looking for your friends and family who don’t have a church home who might be interested in some of our outreach events this spring.  Just drop us a line at — davetilma@gmail.com

Would you pray for us?
This effort will obviously require faith and prayer.  Please consider joining our prayer team and supporting us in prayer.  Just type your e-mail in the box to the right that says, “Join our prayer team” and you’ll receive an e-mail confirming that you’re signed up.
